We will be holding our annual Homeowners Association meeting on Tuesday, April 26 at 7:30 pm. The meeting will take place in the Shoreview Community Center in room 203. This is your chance to learn about what is happening with the association this year. We will be discussing finances, fish stocking, and pond treatments. We will also be looking for volunteers to help with the association and to fill the vacant board position of secretary.
We hope to see you at the meeting on April 26th.
Fish stocking has taken place. This year we stocked 500 bass and 400 sun fish. These fish are 2 to 4 inches long. The fish that we stocked last year and this year should provide for good fishing in the coming years. Please remember to “catch and release” so others can enjoy fishing for fun in our ponds.
The annual meeting for the association will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014. We will be meeting in the Beachcomber Bay room located on the lower level of the Shoreview Community Center at 7 pm. Please join us to meet the board members, learn about what is new in the association, get a financial update and hear a presentation from Chad Hadler from Lake Restoration, the company that sprays our ponds for weeds. We are also looking for volunteers to help with dues and signature collections.
We are looking forward to seeing you and getting your input to make our association meet expectations and run smoothly.
The 25th Annual Evergreen Shores Neighborhood Booya Bash is scheduled for Sunday, Oct 12 from 1 PM to 5 PM. The booya takes place behind the houses at 412 and 420 Bucher Ave. This year the rock band Nando Bando will be performing live.
The cost for the booya is $12 for an individual, $22 for a couple and $25 per family. Hot dogs, chips, beer, pop, water and cider will be provided. Want leftovers? Starting at 5 PM you can fill your quart container for $5. Bring a dish to share and meet new neighbors and visit with old friends as we close out summer. Everyone is welcome.
We were finally able to coordinate with the fish stocker. We bought about 400 bass ranging from 3 to 5 inches. Most were large mouth bass but there were some small mouth bass and sunfish included. The bass should start spawning in 2016. We plan on stocking more fish next spring. Hopefully we will not have another winter kill and our ponds can become a great place to fish again. Please remember to “catch and release” so others can enjoy fishing for fun in our ponds.
The second pond treatment will take place on Monday, June 30, weather permitting. Remember to make sure that fertilizer and yard waste does not stay in the street where it enters the storm drains and ends up in the ponds contributing to weed growth.
The first pond treatment is tentatively scheduled for the week of May 19th. We expect that the spraying will take place later in the week. The exact day is hard to determine more than a couple days in advance due to weather conditions. This year the permits were issued in a timely manner so we were able to schedule a May date for the first treatment. The second treatment will take place in late June or early July. We will post a second treatment date when we know it.
There are several road construction project scheduled for this summer that will impact Evergreen Shores homeowners.

- Three area roads are scheduled for repaving this summer. Hodgson Rd from Co Rd I to Co Rd J, Hamline Ave from Highway 96 to Co Rd F and Centerville Rd from Co Rd H2 to Co Rd J.
Have fun trying to get out of the neighborhood.
